FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
We know planning a trip to Africa is a big decision. Here are answers to the questions we hearoften from travelers like you. If you don’t see your question below, our travel designers are just a message away.
Planning & Booking
How far in advance should I book my trip?
We recommend at least 3 to 6 months ahead for peak safari and holiday seasons. However, with our local network we can often accommodate last-minute bookings as well.
Do you only offer fixed itineraries?
Not at all. We specialize in TATU Curated journeys, but we also design fully customized itineraries based on your travel dates, bucket-list wishes, and pace.
What’s included in my package?
Every itinerary includes carefully selected accommodation, specific meals, guided experiences, transfers, and concierge-level care once you arrive. International flights are not included, but we’ll advise on the best options.
Can I extend my trip to other African countries?
At the moment, we only cater to travelers visiting Kenya, and combining it with Zanzibar.
Payments & Refunds
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. You can secure your trip with a deposit, then spread the balance over flexible installments leading up to your departure.
What’s your cancellation policy?
We work with hotels and partners that often require deposits. Full details are outlined in our
Terms & Conditions.
Travel Essentials
Do I need a visa for Kenya or Zanzibar?
Yes. Most travelers can apply for an E-VISA online, which is straightforward and processed in a few days. We’ll guide you through the process.
Are vaccinations required?
Yellow fever vaccination is recommended, and malaria prevention is advised. We always suggest consulting your doctor well in advance.
Is travel insurance mandatory?
Yes, we require all travelers to have valid travel insurance covering health, cancellations, and emergencies.
What should I pack?
We’ll send you a personalized packing list with essentials for safari, coast, and city life. Think light layers, neutral tones for safari, and breezy clothes for the coast.
Safety & Comfort
Is Kenya safe for solo travelers?
Yes. We design itineraries with trusted guides, vetted accommodations, and seamless transfers. You’ll always feel taken care of.
Can I bring children?
TATU Africa’s itineraries are all designed for 25+ adults. Teen travellers aged 13 –17 may join, if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
What kind of accommodation do you use?
Boutique safari camps, stylish city hotels and barefoot-luxury beach villas. Every stay is hand-tested by our team for comfort, aesthetics, and service.
On-the-Ground Experience
Do I have a guide during my trip?
Yes. On safari, you’ll have expert local guides. In Nairobi and coastal Kenya, we’ll provide hosts or drivers when needed.
Can you cater to dietary restrictions?
Of course. Whether vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or halal, we will ensure your meals are thoughtfully prepared.
Will I have Wi-Fi during my trip?
Most city hotels and beach villas have strong Wi-Fi. Safari camps may have limited connectivity, but that’s often part of the magic.
